Celebrating Wellness: Our Final Bird Walk of the Season
Our final bird walk of the season concluded on a joyful note at Minto-Brown Island Park. Ten families joined us for a morning filled with nature, movement, friendship, food, and fun.
A Walk Through Nature
We began the day with a one-hour walk through the beautiful woods of Minto-Brown Island Park. Along the way, we spotted a woodpecker, a California scrub-jay, and several finches.
The walk also brought an unexpected and memorable encounter: a deer peacefully munching on leaves beside the river. Seeing wildlife so close made the experience especially exciting for both children and adults.
Although birdwatching was the theme, the event became much more than that. It was a relaxing walk in the woods and a wonderful opportunity for families to slow down, enjoy nature, and spend meaningful time together.
A Community Potluck Picnic
After the walk, everyone gathered at our reserved shelter for a potluck lunch. Families brought dishes to share, creating a delicious and diverse meal for the whole group.
Favorite Bollywood songs and music from different Indian states added energy and color to the celebration. Attendees danced, laughed, and enjoyed one another’s company in a cheerful and welcoming atmosphere.
We also played soccer passing games and tennikoit. The picnic concluded with group photos that captured the happiness and community spirit of the day.
Building Wellness Together
Wellness is at the heart of the community we are working to build. It is not limited to physical health. Wellness also means staying active, connecting with others, enjoying life, supporting one another, and creating a genuine sense of belonging.
This gathering brought many of those elements together. We walked in nature, observed birds and wildlife, shared food, played games, danced to music, and strengthened our community connections.
Throughout the season, our bird walks offered opportunities for physical activity, nature exploration, friendship, and socialization. We are grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the season so meaningful.
Thank You to Our Community
A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who participated in the bird walk and picnic, contributed food, helped with the activities, and brought such wonderful enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
Your participation made the day—and the entire season—a success.
We look forward to organizing more activities centered on the seven dimensions of wellness:
Physical wellness
Emotional wellness
Social wellness
Intellectual wellness
Spiritual wellness
Environmental wellness
Occupational wellness
Together, we can continue creating healthy, active, joyful, and meaningful experiences for our community.
